We are Project Neutral.
Transitioning to carbon neutrality.
One neighbourhood at a time.
Working at the juncture of homeowners, neighbourhoods, municipalities and the energy sector, Project Neutral (a project on Tides Canada's shared platform) is supporting local and national greenhouse gas reduction efforts. By allowing households to benchmark and compare their carbon footprint to other households at the neighbourhood and city-level, and to municipal reduction targets, Project Neutral (PN) is creating a culture of awareness around greenhouse gas emissions and connecting individuals to actions.
In our first three years (2010—2013), over 1,000 households have completed the PN Household Carbon Footprint Survey. 80% of participants who completed the survey all three years achieved an average 20% reduction per household—or 5 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per household.
This is equivalent to taking one car off the road for a year for each participating household.
Imagine if everyone household in every neighbourhood starting working together. We call that the power of neighbourhoods. Join us. Make a difference. One household, one neighbourhood at a time.
